GHAT

In India, a ghat is a landing place by a river. The term ghat is especially applied when the structure is large and substantially constructed. These ghats are very numerous on the Ganges, and are great places of resort by the people of the towns where they are situated. Some of them are noteworthy from an architectural point of view, having temples, bathing-houses, etc, at the top.
