Colymbidae (or Gaviidae) is the Divers family of birds of the order Natatores. They are characterized by a slightly compressed bill, not covered with a membranous skin; the edges of the mandibles are unarmed or but slightly toothed; the wings are short; the legs are placed far behind; the tarsi are very much compressed.
