Creole describes persons not of an aboriginal race born in the West Indies, parts of America, South America and other Spanish or French colonies. Creole does not imply mixed blood, but rather any person born in a place where his race is not indigenous.
The term creole was originally given to all the descendants of Spaniards born in America and the West Indies. It was later used in a wider sense to signify the descendants of Europeans of any nation born in South America and the West Indies, as well as in some other localities.
