FREDERICK WILLIAM

Frederick William was elector of Brandenburg. He was born in 1620 at Berlin and died in 1688. He became elector in 1640 and immediately made peace, freeing Brandenburg from the Thirty Years War. He reorganised the army and founded the navy and started colonies in Africa and encouraged trade. Frederick William is considered the founder of Prussia.
