George Armstrong Custer was an American soldier. He was born in 1839 at Ohio and died in 1876. He served throughout the American Civil War and distinguished himself at Gettysburg as commander of the Michiganbrigade, also winning fame at Winchester, Fisher's Hill, Cedar Creek, Waynesboro, Five Forks and Dinwiddie Court House. In 1876, being then a general in the regular army, he was overpowered by the Sioux Indians at the Little Big Horn River, and his entire command was slain. Research George Custer
