George Read was an American politician. He was born in 1733 and died in 1798. He was a signer of the American Declaration of Independence, but before the war was an Attorney-General of Delaware and member of the Legislature. He wrote the noted address to George III, and was a leading member of Congress. He was a delegate to the Annapolis Convention of 1786, and to the Federal Constitutional Convention of the following year.
