HIPPOLYTUS

Hippolytus was an early Christian bishop and writer, the details of whose history are involved in obscurity. He appears to have lived about the beginning of the 3rd century, and is supposed to have suffered martyrdom under Alexander Severus. The most important of his writings is the Philosophumena, a refutation of heresies, discovered in 1842.
