TIBERIUS

Tiberius was a Roman emperor. He was born in 42 BC and died in 37 AD. The son of Tiberius Claudius Nero and Livia Drusilla. In 38 BC his mother having divorced her husband married Augustus, and in 2 BC following the deaths of the heirs Augustus adopted his stepson as his heir. In AD 13 Tiberius was invested with the tribunitian and proconsular powers, the possession of which in effect gave his authority, and upon the death of Augustus in AD 14 Tiberius succeeded as Roman emperor, a position he held until his death.
