The Vikings (creek-dwellers) were the inhabitants of Scandinavia, and more particularly Norway from about the 8th to the 11th century. They were also called Norsemen, and Danes. They were great explorers and set up colonies in Ireland, France, England and Scotland as well as reaching Iceland, Greenland and Nova Scotia.
