William Duane was an American journalist. He was born in 1760 at New York and died in 1835. He was abroad from 1771 to 1795, when he returned to Philadelphia, and until 1822 edited the 'Aurora' the leading Democratic paper. He served as adjutant-general from 1813 to 1815, and was an important figure in anti-Jeffersonian Democratic politics in Pennsylvania. Research William Duane
