FRED ASTAIRE

Fred Astaire was the adopted name of Frederick Austerlitz, an American actor, singer and dancer. He was born in Omaha, Nebraska in 1899 and died in 1987. He starred in numerous films, including Top Hat, Easter Parade, and Funny Face, many of the films contain inventive dance sequences which he designed and choreographed himself. He made ten classic films with the most popular of his dancing partners, Ginger Rogers. He later played straight dramatic roles in such films as On the Beach.
