The Probert Encyclopaedia of Actors

ROBERT URICH

Robert Urich was an American actor and film producer. He was born in 1946 at Toronto, Ohio and died in 2002. Robert Urich grew up in Toronto, Ohio, where his athletic ability led to a four year football scholarship at the Florida State University. There he earned a B.A. in Communications, later receiving an M.A. at Michigan State University before joining the WGN radio station in Chicago as a sales account representative. He briefly appeared as a television weatherman before his big break came from Burt Reynolds in 1972 when he played Burt Reynold's younger brother in a stage production of 'The Rainmaker'. Burt Reynolds took him to California and let him stay in his home there until he got his acting career underway.
