RUTGER HAUER

Rutger Hauer is a Dutch actor. He was born in 1944 at Breukelen. Born into a theatrical family, he ran away to sea to follow a dream of being a man travelling from harbour to harbour spending time with hookers in bars. He gave it up and joined the army, but was discharged as psychologicaly unfit and then went to drama school in Amsterdam, from which he was expelled. He then went to Switzerland to climb the mountains and took a job working a s a handyman in a theatre, before returning to Amsterdam and drama school.
