June Allyson (real name Eleanor Geisman) was an American actress, singer and dancer. She was born in 1917 and died in 2006 of lung disease. After being injured as a child she spent four years confined by a brace before regaining mobility through swimming therapy and then took up dancing, entering dance contests while at high school before being given her first film role in 1938. She appeared in musicals on Broadway before being hired by the film company MGM and going on to become a leading lady of Hollywood films of the 1940's and 1950's. Research June Allyson
