BATTLE OF BEVERLEY'S FORD

The Battle of Beverley's Ford was a cavalry fight that occurred during the American Civil War between Buford, Pleasonton and Gregg commanding 9000 Federal troops and Jeb Stuart leading 12000 Confederate troops. Joseph Hooker had sent Pleasonton to find Jeb Stuart, who was said to be near Beverley's Ford, Virginia. Pleasonton planned to surprise the Confederates, but his plans miscarried. Jeb Stuart was fully prepared for the Federals and Pleasonton was badly beaten, though the Confederate forces also suffered severe losses.
