BATTLE OF CITRONELLA

The Battle of Citronella occurred on April the 8th 1865 during the American Civil War. The Federals under Edward Canby defeated Dick Taylor, who commanded a strong force of Confederates. This occurred after the evacuation of Mobile by Maury on May the 8th, on the news of Edward Johnston's capitulation. Taylor surrendered all the Confederate forces east of the Mississippi to Edward Canby at Citronella.
