BATTLE OF ERZINCAN

The Battle Of Erzincan occurred in July 1916 during the Great War between the Russian Caucasian Army which was advancing west of Erzurum and the Turkish Third Army. The Russian forces reached the Turkish advance base of Erzincan on the 23rd of July, taking the poorly fortified town two days later. The Turks retreated to Mosul and Sivas being pursued by cavalry and a battery of Belgian armoured cars, before the Turkish Second Army counter attacked in the south forcing the Russians to suspend operations west of Erzincan.
