The Battle Of Lutsk was a pivotal engagement during the first phase of the Russian Brusilov Offensive on the Eastern Front that occurred in June 1916 during the Great War between the Russian Eighth Army under General Kaledin and Austro-Hungarian forces which had a fortified position at the town of Lutsk. The Russian forces broke through the Austro-Hungarian lines and shelled the town, however the defending forces were unable to escape due to surrounding barbed wire and were captured by the Russians. The loss of Lutsk ended the Austro-Hungarian Fourth Army's effective resistance. Research Battle Of Lutsk
