BATTLE OF NORTH POINT

The Battle of North Point occurred near Baltimore during the War of 1812. The British force while pushing forward to attack Baltimore on September the 12th, 1814, came upon the American army and immediately joined battle. After two hours' hard fighting, the British right put to flight the American left, which in its retreat threw the rest of the line into confusion and forced a rout of the Americans who fled back toward Baltimore, leaving behind their wounded and two field pieces.
