BATTLE OF POINT PLEASANT

The Battle of Point Pleasant Virginia was an engagement between Virginia troops and American Indians led by the Shawnee chief, Cornstalk. On October the 10th ,1774 the Indians crossed the Ohio River at night and fell upon General Andrew Lewis' encampment about sunrise. Colonel Charles Lewis and Colonel Fleming were killed, besides many others. But General Andrew Lewis managed to save his camp and fend off the attack. The Indians withdrew.
