The Battle of Quaker Hill was an engagement of the American War Of Independence fought on August the 29th, 1778. On the night of August the 28th, the Americans on Rhode Island fell back toward Butts Hill at the northern end of the island. Contrary to Greene's advice the British were allowed to occupy Quaker Hill and Turkey Hill. From these hills the British assailed the Americans, but were repulsed and driven back to Turkey Hill. The hottest of the battle took place on the low ground between the hills. Research Battle of Quaker Hill
