The Battle of Queenstown, Ontario occurred during the War of 1812 and was a preparation for an invasion of Canada. General Van Rensselaer, in command of the American troops on the Niagarafrontier, mustered nearly 6000 men at or near Lewiston. On the night of October the 12th, 1812, he sent over about 1000 men to attack Queenstown preparatory to a further invasion of Canada. General Brock, the capturer of Detroit, in person commanded the British forces, but was killed early in the action. The rest of the American troops refused to cross the river, and the attacking party was captured. Research Battle of Queenstown
