The C2 was a Canadian heavy-barrelled gas operated selective fire rifle based on the FAL and adopted by the Canadian Army as their Squad Light Automatic weapon. The C2 was chambered for the 7.62 mm NATO cartridge which it took from a 30-round box magazine and fired at a cyclic rate of 710 rounds per minute with a muzzle velocity of 854 meters per second. The C2 had a 533 mm long barrel and was fitted with a post foresight and a tangent rearsight with an aperture graduated from 200 to 1000 yards. A two-part firing pin model, the C2A1 was also produced with a plastic carrying handle.
