DSHK

Picture of DShK

The DShK (Degtyarev DSh K-38) is a Russian 12.7 mm gas operated automatic air-cooled heavy machine-gun developed during the 1930s, and produced from 1938 to 1980. The DShK is chambered for the 12.7 mm x 108 cartridge which it takes from a 50-round belt feed and fires at a cyclic rate of 575 rounds per minute with a muzzle velocity of 860 meters per second to an effective range of 2000 meters. The DShK has a 1070 mm long barrel and is fitted with a cylindrical post foresight and a vertical leaf with U rearsight. For infantry use the DShK was typically mounted on a Sokolov wheeled mount. During the 1970's an improved model with a longer barrel appeared mounted on Soviet tanks.
