FN MINIMI

Picture of FN Minimi

The FN Minimi is a series of three variations (standard, Para and vehicle) of a Belgian Gas operated light machine-gun designed for the NATO 5.56 mm cartridge which it takes from either a 30-round M16-type box magazine or a 100- or 200-round disintegrating link belt. It has a cyclic rate of fire of 700 to 1000 rounds-per-minute fully automatic or in controlled bursts and a muzzle velocity of 915 or 965 meters per second depending upon ammunition used. The FN Minimi has a 490 mm long barrel, or can be fitted with a short 468 mm long barrel and a folding stock.
