The L37A2 is a British tankmachine-gun based on the L8A1tankmachine-gun and designed for use in AFVs, scout cars, armoured personnel carriers and also to be able to be dismounted and used outside of the vehicle. The L37A2 is chambered for the 7.62 mm x 51 cartridge which it takes from a beltfeed and fires with a cyclic rate of between 650 and 1000 rounds per minute with a muzzle velocity of 838 meters per second.
