The Lee Enfield was a series of British manual bolt-action rifles produced in .303 inch calibre. The original Lee Enfield Number One rifle entered service in the British army in 1896, and the famous short magazine Lee-Enfield (SMLE) was adopted in 1902 and used throughout the Great War. Various models were produced, the Number 4 being used throughout the Second World War and its carbine variation, the Number 5 in the Far East during the Second World War. Research Lee Enfield
