SWAMP FIGHT

The Swamp Fight was an enagement on December the 19th, 1675, during King Philip's War that occurred in the Narragansett country, in what is now South Kingstown, Rhode Island. King Philip and his allies, entrenched in a strong palisade in the midst of a swamp, were attacked by the forces of Massachusetts, Plymouth and Connecticut, and defeated with great slaughter; the stockade was destroyed.
