The Arisaka Type 99 was a Japanese bolt operated rifle produced from 1940 to 1945. It developed from the 38th Year rifle, the idea being to produce a rifle chambered for the 7.7 mm cartridge. It takes a 7.7 mm round from a 5-round box magazine. It has a muzzle velocity of 715 meters-per-second and is sighted to 2400 meters, having an effective range of 500 meters.
