DECLINATION

In astronomy, declination is the angular distance of a heavenly body north or south of the celestial equator. If the body is north of the equator the declination is described as positive and if south negative. Parallels of declination are the circles parallel to the equator traversed by stars in their diurnal motion round the pole.
