Thorite, so called by Berzelius from the Scandinavian god Thor, is a mineral of a brown to black colour, or, as in the variety orangite, orange-yellow, and with a glassy lustre. It is essentially a silicate of thorium. Thorite is chiefly found in Norway and Sri Lanka. Research Thorite
