Mermaids is a romantic comedy starring , Cher, Bob Hoskins, Winona Ryder, Michael Schoeffling, Christina Ricci and Caroline McWilliams in a story based upon the novel by Patty Dann about a single mother who moves her family to a small coastal American town where she starts a romance with a local shop keeper and her daughter questions whether her own tenattive romance conflicts with her religious beliefs. Mermaids was directed by Richard Benjamin in 1990.
