ELASTIC

Elastic is a fabric made from interwoven threads of India rubber. By 1830
elastic panels had replaced the spiral metal bands which had earlier been used for corsets and underwear. Because of its flexibility, elastic has been used extensively since the 19th century in the manufacture of underwear, swimwear and exercise garments.
