The USS Antietam was an American Essex Class fleet aircraft carrier of 27100 tons displacement launched in 1944. The USS Antietam was powered by eight Babcock and Wilcox boilers providing a top speed of 33 knots. She carried a complement of 2900 and normally 82 aircraft though up to 103 could be carried. She was armed with twelve 5 inch guns; seventy-two 40 mm anti-aircraft guns and fifty-two 20 mm anti-aircraft guns mounted in quads. Research Antietam
