ARKHANGELSK

The Arkhangelsk was a British-built Russian battleship of 29150 tons displacement launched in 1915 as HMS Royal Sovereign and lent to the Soviet navy in 1944. The Arkhangelsk was powered by eighteen Babcock oil-fired boilers providing a top speed of 20 knots. She carried a complement of between 1009 and 1146 and was armed with eight 15 inch guns; twelve 6 inch guns; eight 4 inch anti-aircraft guns; other 40 mm and 20 mm anti-aircraft guns and machine-guns.
