AVENGER

HMS Avenger is a British Amazon Class frigate of 3100 tons displacement launched in 1975. HMS Avenger is powered by two Rolls-Royce Olympus TM3B gas turbines and two Rolls-Royce Tyne RM1C gas turbines for cruising providing a top speed of 30 knots and a range of 6400 km at 17 knots. She carries a crew of 175 including 13 officers and has accommodation for 192. Armaments consist of four Aerospatiale MM38 Exocet surface-to-surface cruise missiles; a Short Bros Seacat GWS 24 quad surface-to-air missile launcher; one Vickers 4.5 inch/55 Mk 8 dual-purpose gun; two Oerlikon 20 mm guns and six 324 mm Plessey STWS Mk 2 torpedo tubes arranged in two triples.
