BUCOVINA

The Bucovina was a Romanian monitor of 550 tons displacement launched in 1915 as the Austro-Hungarian ship Sava. The Bucovina was powered by Yarrow boilers providing a top speed of 12 knots and carried a complement of between 90 and 100. She was armed with two 4.7 inch guns arranged in a twin in a single forward turret; two 4.7 inch howitzers mounted singularly in pits with cupola protection; two 66 mm anti-aircraft guns mounted as a twin in a turret; two 47 mm guns and six machine-guns. In 1919 the Sava was interned by Yugoslavia and held until early 1921 when she was handed over to Romania and renamed and stationed on the Danube.
