CORNWALLIS

The Cornwallis was an Indian escort sloop of 1383 tons displacement launched in 1917 as the British HMS Lychnis and sold to the Indian navy in 1921. The Cornwallis carried a complement of 119 and was powered by coal fuelled boilers providing a top speed of 16.5 knots. She was armed with three 4-inch guns; four 3-pdr guns and 12 smaller guns.
