HMS Cotswold was a British No 1 Type Hunt Class destroyer of 1000 tons displacement designed for escort duties and launched in 1940. HMS Cotswold was powered by two Admiralty 3-drum type boilers providing a top speed of 27.5 knots and carried a complement of 146. She was armed with four 4 inch anti-aircraft guns; one 2 pdr gun and two 20 mm anti-aircraft guns.
