The USS Gatling was an American Improved Fletcher Class destroyer of 2050 tons displacement launched in 1943. The USS Gatling was powered by four Babcock and Wilcox boilers providing a top speed of 36 knots. She carried a complement of 353 and was armed with five 5 inch guns; ten 40 mm anti-aircraft guns; eight 20 mm anti-aircraft guns and ten 21 inch torpedo tubes arranged in two quintuplets.
