The Probert Encyclopaedia of Ships

HAMELN

The Hameln is a German mine laying and minesweeper class similar to the Frankenthal class, but fitted with conventional mechanical and influence mine sweeping equipment. The ship is equipped with two quadruple Stinger missile launchers for air-defence. The ship has two MTU 16V 538 TB91 diesel engines each providing 2200 kW, with two shafts driving variable pitch propellers. The engines provide a speed of 18 knots.
