The Probert Encyclopaedia of Ships

IKARA

Ikara is an Australian long-range anti-submarine weapons system, first deployed in the Australian Type 82 guided missile destroyers during the late 1960's. Ikara is a guided rocket carrying an American Type 44 lightweight homing torpedo which is parachuted into the sea near the target when ordered to be released by command from the controlling ship.
