The Laurent (formerly HMS Cygnet) was a Canadian Ottawa Class destroyer of 1375 tons displacement launched in 1931 and transferred to the Royal Canadian Navy in 1937 from the Royal Navy. The Laurent was powered by three Admiralty 3-drum type boilers providing a top speed of 36 knots. She carried a complement of 145 and was armed with four 4.7-inch guns; seven smaller guns and eight 21-inch torpedo tubes arranged in two quadruples. Research Laurent
