LION

HMS Lion was a British Lion Class Battle Cruiser of 26350 tons displacement launched in 1910. HMS Lion was manned by a crew of 1085 and powered by Yarrow boilers providing a top speed of 28 knots. Armaments consisted of eight 13.5 inch guns, sixteen 4 inch guns, two 3 inch anti-aircraft guns, four 3 pounder guns, five machine guns and two submerged 21 inch torpedo tubes broadside. HMS Lion saw action during the Great War, and was the British flagship at the start of the Battle of Dogger Bank where she was hit in the engine room and immobilised.
