SCULLING

Sculling is the impelling of a boat by means of two sculls or small oars, each rowed with one hand. The term is also applied to the propulsion of a boat by means of a long oar from its stern (a scull), where it is worked from side to side with a twist which produces the effect of a screw propeller.
