SEMMES

The USS Semmes is an American Charles F Adams Class guided missile destroyer of 3370 tons standard displacement launched in 1961. The USS Semmes is powered by four boilers and two geared steam turbines providing a top speed of 30 knots and a range of 6000 miles at 15 knots. She carries a crew of 360 including 20 officers and is armed with McDonnell Douglas Harpoon surface-to-surface missiles; GDC Standard SM-1MR surface-to-air missiles; one Honeywell ASROC Mk 16 octuple launcher; two FMC 5 inch/54 Mk 42 guns; four 12.7 mm calibre machine-guns and two triple arrangements of 324 mm Mk 32 torpedo tubes taking the Honeywell Mk 46 torpedo.
