The Probert Encyclopaedia of Places of the World

ADEN

Aden was a country in south-west Arabia. It was known to the Romans under the names of Arabia, Felix and Attaux.
Aden is the commercial capital of the Republic of Yemen. It is a port on the Gulf of Aden at the entrance to the Red Sea, and was the capital of the former country of Aden and the former country of South Yemen.
