ASHBURTON

Ashburton (recorded in the Domesday Book as Essebretone) is a market town in Devon, England. It was a large and important town in the medieval period as one of the stannery towns (where tin from Dartmoor was taken to be weighed and taxed) and for cloth manufacture.
