Charlestown is a suburb of Boston, Massachusetts. The city was founded in 1629 by British colonists and named after Charles I. During the battle of Bunker Hill on June the 17th 1775 the city was completely destroyed by shells and fire. It was rebuilt and later incorporated as a city in 1847 and incorporated with Boston in 1874.
