The Probert Encyclopaedia of Places of the World

DROITWICH

Droitwich (originally the Roman station of Salinae and later recorded in the Domesday Book as Wich) is a town in Worcestershire, England. Originaly a salt producing town (whence the name which derives from 'dirty salt works'), salt was manufactured at Droitwuich from the brine springs for over 1000 years, Droitwich was later a health spa.
